Grant round Counting with Language opened!
From Friday, May 1, 2020 it is again possible to apply for a subsidy from Count along with Language. Organizations that (want to) work to prevent and reduce low literacy can apply for subsidies for language courses and other activities. A total of over 4 million euros is available in 2020. Applications can be submitted from May 1 to 31, 2020. Grant awards this year will be by lottery, and not by order of registration. All complete applications received by May 31 will therefore have an equal chance.
Who can apply for a grant?
As in previous years, subsidies are available for:
– Projects and courses in language, math and/or digital skills aimed at low-literacy parents. Organizations such as schools, employers, libraries, youth (health) care institutions, pre-school facilities and other organizations can apply. Please note that at least one municipality and one school, library, youth health care institution or pre-school facility must support the application. – Language, math and/or digital skills courses aimed at low-literate employees. Employers can apply for subsidies themselves or be supported by a course provider.
Impact of government measures against spread of corona virus
Government measures against the further spread of the corona virus may affect the implementation of activities for which grants have been requested. For example, some businesses are closed and physical meetings are temporarily not taking place. Grant recipients are therefore given additional time to complete activities (until December 31, 2021). And should the total available budget not be exhausted, an additional round of applications with the remaining budget will follow in September 2020. In addition, the aim is to already open the application period for 2021 from the beginning of 2021.
Scheme change in 2020
There are a number of changes to the scheme in 2020:
– From May 1 to May 31, 2020, you can only apply for subsidies for the ‘low language proficient parents’ and ‘workers’ sections. The national subsidy for regional partnerships has been dropped because municipalities are responsible for this from 2020. Municipalities have received additional funds for this purpose. – The subsidy is no longer distributed in order of receipt of applications, but by drawing lots (if the subsidy ceiling is exceeded). As a result, every applicant has an equal chance of receiving a subsidy and it does not matter whether you submit your application on May 1 or May 31. See also: More information about the draw.
– The grant must be accounted for from €25,000. This amount was €50,000. The mandatory impact measurement of courses for employees will disappear. – The maximum subsidy amount will be equalized for all types of applications. The maximum grant amount this year is € 125,000 per applicant. – Also the compulsory co-financing will be equalized for all types of applications. The compulsory co-financing is at least 33% of the eligible costs.
