To become a citizen, you must learn Dutch. And you must learn how Dutch people live and work. This is a government requirement, as stated in the Civic Integration Act. If you have learned enough, you will take the civic integration exam.
This website is for you if you became obliged to integrate after January 1, 2013. Or if you want to naturalize.
Participants in an integration course follow a number of learning modules to reach level A2 of the European Framework of Reference. This is the level required for the exam. The number of modules depends on the student’s starting level. An absolute beginner (A1-minus) usually needs 600 lessons to reach level A2. At the intake we give the student a realistic advice on the length of the course to follow.
The questions of the Inburgeringsexamen are about Dutch customs and rules. During the exam, you must also show that you know the Dutch language well enough. These are the exam components:
