VMBO-HAVO or VWO
A VAVO course stands for Voortgezet Algemeen Volwassenenonderwijs and is designed for adults who want to obtain their high school diploma or improve language skills. A VAVO language training program focuses specifically on improving language skills, such as Dutch, English, German, French, Spanish and so on. These courses are designed for people who already have a certain level of language proficiency, but want to further develop their skills or obtain an officially recognized diploma. VAVO language courses offer education at different levels, such as VMBO-TL, HAVO and VWO. During the VAVO program, you will be taught subjects such as grammar, vocabulary, reading skills, listening skills, writing skills and speaking skills. Classes are usually taught in groups and there is room for individual tutoring. The ultimate goal is to improve your language skills and eventually earn a diploma at the desired level. VAVO offers flexibility to adults who want to study alongside their work or other responsibilities. You can usually study part-time, so you can combine your studies with other commitments. Approved VAVO (secondary general adult education) courses in languages are Blended Learning programs designed specifically for adults who want to improve their language knowledge and skills or learn a new language. These Blended Learning courses are designed for people who have not completed a regular secondary education, but want to work toward earning a full diploma. VAVO accredited language courses offer a wide range of languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch and more. These courses cover different levels, ranging from beginner to advanced, so students can enter at the level that best suits their current language skills. During VAVO courses in languages, students can expect to develop skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking in their chosen language. They may also be introduced to the culture and customs of the countries in which the language is spoken. The courses are usually taught by experienced teachers who specialize in teaching languages to adults. Upon successful completion of an accredited VAVO course in languages, students receive a partial certificate or diploma equivalent to a regular secondary school diploma. This diploma can then be used to advance to higher education or to use the language skills acquired in professional contexts. VAVO offers adults the opportunity to further develop themselves in the field of languages and to explore new career opportunities. It enables them to improve their language skills and grow both personally and professionally.
